Around The Clock (ATC) Rules & Practice Guide

Around The Clock (also called "Round the Board" or "Around the World") is the ultimate darts warmup and target consistency drill.

1. The Objective of Around The Clock

The objective is straightforward: hit every numerical segment on the dartboard in sequential order starting at 1 and finishing at 20, optionally ending with a Bullseye hit.

2. Turn Mechanics

  • Each player throws three darts per turn.
  • You only advance to the next number after hitting your current target number.
  • If you hit your target on Dart 1, your second dart immediately aims for the next number in sequence!
  • Multiple targets can be hit in a single turn if you don't miss.

3. Game Variations

  • Standard Singles: Any segment of the number counts (single, double, or triple).
  • Bullseye Finish: After reaching and hitting 20, players must hit the Outer Bull (25) or Double Bull (50) to win.
  • Doubles / Trebles Only: Advanced variant where only the double or triple ring of each number advances your progress.

4. Why ATC Improves Your Game

Unlike 501 where players spend 80% of their darts targeting the 20 and 19 segments, Around The Clock forces you to throw across every quadrant of the board. This builds muscle memory for odd checkout routes and double finishes all around the oche.
